ICP Benefits:
Facility
owners and operators have been quick to realize the many
benefits from having a single, integrated contingency plan
versus having multiple, independent plans. For example, company
phone lists and organization charts, agency contact and
reporting information, and facility site diagrams are frequently
used in various contingency plans. An integrated plan can
eliminate the duplication that exists between multiple,
independent plans.
By eliminating this redundancy, an ICP is smaller and
easier to reproduce and to update than multiple, independent
plans, which reduces expenditures.
Since there is only 1 emergency response plan for the
site, the emergency responders only need to be trained on one plan, and they always know which plan to use in an emergency.
This leads to safer, better responses.
